Train travelers are set to face inconvenience on Monday after Indian Railways announced the cancellation of four prominent mail and express services due to a shortage of rakes.
The trains affected are the Pune–Santragachi Humsafar Express (20281), Mumbai–Howrah Mail (12809), Howrah–Pune Duronto Express (12221), and the Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT)–Shalimar Jnaneshwari Express (12101).
According to South East Central Railway (SECR) officials, the cancellations were unavoidable as the required pairing rakes could not be arranged. This disruption stems from the continuing Kudmi tribal protest in Jharkhand, which has already led to earlier cancellations and created a ripple effect on long-distance train operations across eastern India.
Railway authorities have advised passengers to verify the latest status of their trains before beginning their journeys. They further assured that efforts are underway to normalize services as quickly as possible. However, with the agitation still hampering rake availability, uncertainty over resumption of these trains persists.
