The Maharashtra State Waqf Board has suspended Mr. Taufiq Ahmed Shafiq Ahmed, District Waqf Officer of Nagpur, with immediate effect.
According to official sources, several complaints had been received from local representatives and citizens regarding his functioning. To facilitate an impartial inquiry and protect the Board’s image, the decision to suspend him was taken.
Mr. Ahmed had been instructed to appear before the Chairman of the Maharashtra State Waqf Board in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar on September 25. However, he failed to comply with the order, and his absence has been noted as prima facie disobedience of senior directives.
The action was taken under provisions of the Maharashtra Civil Services (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 1979. During his suspension, Mr. Ahmed will be entitled only to subsistence allowance, and his headquarters will remain at the State Waqf Board office in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. He will not be permitted to engage in any official work during this period.
