Passengers on the Indore–Nagpur Vande Bharat Express have received disappointing news. The 16-coach train rake that had recently been sent to Indore for trials has now been diverted to Delhi, dashing hopes of additional seats during the festive season.
The Railways had earlier decided to increase the number of coaches on the Indore–Nagpur Vande Bharat Express from 8 to 16. A new 16-coach rake was sent to Indore a few days ago, where trial runs and maintenance work had started at Lakshmibai Nagar station. However, the Railway Board has now ordered the rake to be shifted to Delhi. Sources indicate that the move is linked to meeting the technical requirements of new Vande Bharat services planned from the capital.
The decision has put a hold on plans to run a longer Vande Bharat on the Indore–Nagpur route. Currently, the 8-coach service is in operation, and tickets are sold out weeks in advance, especially during festive periods. Passengers said the 16-coach train would have eased seat shortages and made travel more convenient.
Railway officials clarified that the plan has not been cancelled but postponed. They assured that Indore will be given priority as soon as new rakes become available and that fresh dates will be announced in due course. Despite this assurance, frustration among passengers remains high, given the heavy rush during the festive season.
