Aspirations of serving the nation have turned into reality for three young men from Nagpur, who have cleared the rigorous Services Selection Board (SSB) examination and are set to begin training at the Officers Training Academy (OTA), Gaya, later this month. After completing their intensive training, they will be commissioned as officers in the Indian Army.
The achievement of Abhas Kamble, Arjun Kumar Singh, and Rajesh Thakre stands as a testament to perseverance, discipline, and the transformative role of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) in grooming future leaders.
Profiles of the Selected Cadets
- Abhas Kamble: A Mechanical Engineering graduate from Government College of Engineering, Nagpur, Abhas overcame personal setbacks, including the loss of his father, to pursue his dream of joining the Army. An alumnus of Guru Nanak High School, he credits NCC training for sharpening his discipline and determination.
- Arjun Kumar Singh: Educated at Kendriya Vidyalaya and later at GHRCE, Arjun drew inspiration from his late father’s Army service. With strong leadership qualities, he now aims to serve in the Corps of Signals, continuing the family’s legacy of dedication to the armed forces.
- Rajesh Thakre: A former House Captain of Podar World School and an engineering graduate from Ramdeobaba College of Engineering, Rajesh followed the path of his elder brother into the Army. His association with the NCC Air Wing proved to be the turning point, and he now aspires to join the Corps of Engineers.
A Shared Dream
All three cadets expressed heartfelt gratitude to their families, mentors, and especially Group Captain S. C. D’Souza (Retd), whose mentorship played a pivotal role in their success. United by the same goal, the trio now look forward to wearing the olive green uniform and dedicating their lives to the service of the nation.
