Srushti Vijay Bahekar, a former dental practitioner from Gondia who later turned to acting, is set to mark her entry into Marathi cinema with her debut film Chhabi, releasing on September 26.
The film, directed by Adwait Masurkar and produced by Jaya Chedda, boasts an impressive ensemble cast that includes Makrand Deshpande, Sameer Dharmadhikari, Shubhangi Gokhale, Jaywant Wadkar, Sanjay Kulkarni, Rajan Bhise, Dhruv Chedda, Leena Pandit, and Anagha Atul. Music for the film has been composed by the duo Rohan-Rohan.
Srushti’s Journey to the Big Screen
Before stepping into films, Srushti had made her mark on television with popular serials such as Shiva, Tumchi Mulgi Kay Karte, Jai Jai Swami Samarth, and Karan Gunhyala Mafi Nahi. In Chhabi, she plays a parallel lead role. Reflecting on her big-screen debut, she expressed, “My first film feels like a dream come true. I owe everything to my parents’ blessings and support.”
The Storyline
Chhabi tells the tale of a young photographer who travels to the Konkan coast for his sister’s wedding. There, he encounters a mysterious woman who can only be seen through his camera lens, blurring the lines between illusion and reality and sparking deep, thought-provoking questions.
