Demonstrating a proactive approach to public safety, Kalamna Police personally repaired potholes on Old Kamptee Road to avoid accidents and ensure the smooth flow of traffic.
Officials reported that heavy rains had created large craters near the Old Kamptee Road bridge within Kalamna police jurisdiction. These potholes often remained hidden under rainwater, causing frequent accidents and traffic snarls. After observing several mishaps, the police decided to step in without waiting for municipal action.
On September 26, 2025, Kalamna police officers filled the damaged patches with murum and gravel, levelling the surface to make it safer for commuters. Their quick intervention immediately improved road conditions and reduced the risk of further incidents.
Motorists and local residents have praised the prompt response, noting that it goes beyond routine policing duties. While road maintenance typically falls under municipal responsibility, the police prioritised public welfare to prevent additional accidents during the monsoon season.
The effort underscores the need for better coordination between civic authorities and law enforcement, especially when poor road conditions threaten lives. Citizens have also appealed to the Nagpur Municipal Corporation to carry out permanent repairs to ensure long-term safety on this busy stretch.
