The Nagpur Metropolitan Region Development Authority (NMRDA) has rolled out an ambitious plan to prepare Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for a wide range of road projects and urban development works. Covering projects valued from under ₹10 crore to over ₹100 crore, the initiative is designed to bring structure, speed, and accountability to the city’s expanding infrastructure.
Each DPR will include feasibility studies, traffic surveys, engineering designs, and cost estimates, ensuring that projects are planned with data-driven precision. Roads, highways, flyovers, and bridges will be mapped alongside utilities such as drainage, water pipelines, and power supply corridors. By integrating services into a single design, NMRDA hopes to avoid the frequent delays and disruptions caused by uncoordinated utility work.
Specialist teams will prepare the reports, with experts ranging from transport planners, structural and hydrology engineers, GIS professionals, economists, and legal advisors. Their role will be to ensure that projects are technically sound, financially viable, and socially responsible. Environmental and social impact assessments will also be part of every DPR, helping to safeguard communities affected by land acquisition.
For citizens, this move promises better designed roads, smoother traffic flow, reliable civic services, and fewer disputes. For NMRDA, the reports will provide a strong base to prioritize projects, attract investments, and maintain transparency.
By shifting to systematic DPR preparation, NMRDA is laying the foundation for a coherent, long-term development strategy that could transform the growth trajectory of Nagpur’s metropolitan region.
