The desired changes in society can be brought about through democratic principles and by inculcating social values, rather than by promoting and following violence. We all have the responsibility to unitedly follow and promote social equality, social values and national spirit, said Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh Sarsanghchalak Dr Mohan Bhagwat. Bhagwat was speaking during the Vijayadashami and Shatrapujan programme at on Thursday, at Reshimbag Ground in Nagpur. Former President of India Ram Nath Kovind was the chief guest.
Some forces from outside and inside Bharat are instigating violence, religious rivalries and insulting the national and historical heroes. The pre-planned efforts to destabilise the social system and the nation should be controlled. This can be done by bringing about the positive changes in ourselves and the society, Dr Bhagwat said. Depending on the government alone cannot change the situation, he added.
Violence in the neighbouring states like Bangladesh, Shri Lanka, Nepal against the existing government is an issue of concern. Similar forces are also active in Bharat. Controlling them is the responsibility of all of us. With the social unity, Bharat can demonstrate to the world the way to develop and protect the culture and traditions based on values, he said. This can be achieved by reducing dependency on others, adopting ‘swadeshi’ and following the Bharatiya value system of unity and equality. The culture, traditions, and value system were developed in this country since the ancient period, and is called the Hindu culture.
Recalling the contribution of Mahatma Gandhi as leader of the freedom struggle and his vision for the future Bharat, Lal Bahadur Shastri for the welfare of the farmers, and Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar who fought for equality, and many others for the development of the Bharatiya society and the nation. Despite several aggressions and active divisive forces, the Indian society remained united, which is the major strength of the Indian society, Dr Bhagwat said.
