The three-day seminar of the Air Traffic Controller Guild (India) commenced in Nagpur, drawing participation from ATC officials working at airports across the country and representatives from various airlines. The event was inaugurated on Saturday by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari.
The seminar will focus on the aviation sector’s role in building a Developed India. In his inaugural address, Minister Gadkari emphasized that aviation will be among the fastest-growing sectors in the country in the coming years. He urged the industry to adopt global technology and contribute strongly to India’s growth story.
Held in Nagpur after 24 years, the seminar has drawn national attention from aviation professionals. Gadkari highlighted that the aviation sector’s growth rate is projected to be around 24%, stressing the need to amend restrictive regulations that slow down development. He also underlined the importance of pursuing expansion with quality.
The minister expressed displeasure over bureaucratic delays that had stalled the Nagpur Airport runway project for nearly one and a half years, causing an estimated public loss of ₹50 crore. He criticized officials for holding up files unnecessarily, calling it a habit that harms citizens and the economy.
Gadkari further emphasized the potential of air cargo services to bring a major economic boost and noted that Nagpur’s strategic central location makes it a vital hub for India’s aviation expansion.
