Ambazari Police conducted a late-night raid at HH Cafe, located in Laxmi Krupa Building, Gokulpeth Main Road, for operating a hookah parlour illegally. The operation took place on Saturday at 11:45 pm, during which authorities found several patrons consuming prohibited tobacco products through hookahs.
The main accused, Abhay Manohar Rathod (22) of Ravi Nagar, Civil Lines, was identified as the person running the cafe. Two others, waiter Nishant Rajesh Patil (21) from Pratap Nagar and Samin Akar Dhabak (20), were also arrested. At the time of the raid, 29 customers were present inside the cafe.
Police alleged that the accused were supplying flavoured tobacco for hookah use and operating the parlour without legal permission for financial gain. Authorities seized hookah pots, flavoured tobacco, and other paraphernalia worth ?11,000 from the premises.
A case has been registered against the accused under Section 274 of the BNS and Sections 5, 6, 7, and 20 of the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act, 2003, including the Maharashtra Amendment Act, 2018. Investigations are ongoing.
