Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Thursday visited AIIMS Nagpur to meet children admitted after allegedly consuming a toxic cough syrup. Expressing deep concern, Yadav said that both the Madhya Pradesh and Nagpur administrations were working closely to ensure the best possible treatment for the affected patients.
“I have come to meet the sick children who were admitted after drinking poisonous cough syrup. We have supported the administration. The Nagpur administration is also worried, the doctors of AIIMS are also worried,” Yadav told reporters.
He added that senior leaders, including MP BJP President Hemant Khandelwal and Chhindwara MP Bunty Sahu, were coordinating efforts along with medical staff to provide every necessary facility. “All of us are trying in every way to ensure that no one faces any problem. We are doing the best we can. I said that if anyone needs anything, please let us know. We hope these people recover soon,” Yadav said.
The incident has sparked alarm across the region, with several children from Madhya Pradesh being hospitalized in Nagpur after consuming the contaminated syrup. Authorities are investigating the source and composition of the medicine.
