Preparations for the upcoming local self-government elections are underway, but irregularities have already surfaced in the voter list of the Wanadongri Municipal Council area in Hingna constituency. Reports indicate that more than 200 voters have been registered under one single house number, raising serious questions about the accuracy and integrity of the electoral roll.
Local residents and activists have pointed out that such inconsistencies are not isolated. In ward number 9 of the Wanadongri Nagar Parishad, several names have been entered without proper house numbers or addresses. The discrepancies came to light after careful scrutiny of the latest published voter list. Questions are being raised as to how so many names could be added under one house number without any verification.
A particularly shocking case has been found in the Besa Pipla Nagar Panchayat under ward number 2, part 39–1, where the voters’ names appear on the list without corresponding house numbers or identifiable addresses. This has led to confusion and suspicion among citizens about the legitimacy of these entries.
District-level Congress leader Dinesh Gathe has demanded an immediate inquiry by the State Election Commission and district administration, urging them to take strict action against those responsible for such irregularities. He also called for a door-to-door verification campaign to identify bogus voters and maintain electoral transparency.
Meanwhile, Rahul Parikar, Chief Officer of Wanadongri Nagar Parishad, stated that the voter list received from the Election Commission has been prepared as per the prescribed procedure. He added that any verification or correction falls under the Commission’s jurisdiction and not the local body’s, but the administration is ready to assist if required.
