A potentially serious accident was averted near Central Jail’s car washing square today when a city bus operated by Travel Time Company (Khapri Depot) suffered a sudden brake failure.
According to preliminary reports, the incident occurred due to a broken compressor belt. Acting swiftly, the bus driver showed remarkable presence of mind and steered the vehicle toward a tree to bring it to a halt safely, preventing any major damage or injuries.
At the time of the incident, there were six passengers on board. One passenger sustained a minor finger injury and was immediately treated with first aid available in the bus. Officials confirmed that there is no cause for concern.
The bus was promptly repaired on-site and safely brought back to the depot. Authorities have been informed, and the issue is being reviewed to ensure preventive measures are implemented to avoid similar mechanical failures in the future.
