Nagpur: Unidentified burglars targeted the residence of an 85-year-old man in Nandanvan on Wednesday, decamping with valuables worth ₹7.16 lakh while the family was away celebrating Diwali with relatives.
According to police, the complainant, Shrigopal Madanlal Soni (85), residing at Flat No. 401, Jayswal Apartment, Plot Nos. 36 and 37, Umiyacolony, Nandanvan, had locked his house and left for Prajapati Nagar between 9:15 am and 12:15 pm on October 23. During this period, unidentified miscreants allegedly broke open the main door lock and latch, gaining entry into the flat.
The intruders ransacked the bedroom cupboard and made away with ₹1.5 lakh in cash, along with gold and silver ornaments and a diamond necklace, collectively valued at around ₹7.16 lakh.
Based on Soni’s complaint, PSI Nagargoje has registered a case at Nandanvan Police Station under relevant sections of the BNS against unidentified accused. Police are scrutinizing CCTV footage from nearby areas to trace the culprits. Further probe is underway.
