Nagpur: To accommodate the heavy rush of passengers returning after the Diwali celebrations, the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) has introduced special bus services between Nagpur and Pune. The initiative, launched by the Nagpur Division, aims to ensure smoother and more convenient travel for post-festival commuters.
According to officials, the Ganeshpeth Depot will operate additional buses from October 23 to 27, providing much-needed relief to passengers heading back to Pune. As per the schedule, two buses — either Shivshahi (semi-luxury) or ordinary (Lalpari) — will depart daily from Ganeshpeth Depot at 5.30 pm and 6.00 pm for Pune. In return, two corresponding services will leave Pune for Nagpur between 7.00 pm and 8.00 pm from October 24 to 28.
The ticket fares for these special services have been set at ₹1,252 for ordinary buses and ₹1,855 for Shivshahi services. Advance reservations for the additional Diwali buses have already been opened for passengers.
During the journey, the buses will halt at Amravati, Akola, Khamgaon, and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar before reaching Pune (Shivajinagar).
Officials added that if the response to these special post-festival services is encouraging, MSRTC may consider operating the Nagpur–Pune route more frequently even after the festive season.
The move is expected to ease travel woes for hundreds of passengers, who often face difficulties in securing tickets during and after major festivals.
