Nagpur: The Public Works Department’s (PWD) World Bank Project Division has announced a complete ban on the movement of heavy vehicles over the Sitabuldi Flyover, also known as the Shahid Gowari Memorial Flyover, citing safety concerns.
According to officials, the bridge was designed exclusively for light vehicles. However, repeated collisions by heavy trucks have damaged the height-barrier frames at the entry points, raising fears over the flyover’s structural integrity.
To avoid any potential mishaps and maintain public safety, authorities have now restricted all heavy vehicle movement on the structure.
The department has also appealed to motorists to strictly comply with the new directive. Violators will face penalties, officials said, adding that adherence to the rule will help ensure smooth traffic flow in the Sitabuldi area.
