The Railway Protection Force (RPF), South East Central Railway, Nagpur Division, in coordination with Telangana Police, nabbed a rape accused from Gondia Railway Station following an alert issued by Kamareddy District Police (Telangana).
Divisional Security Commissioner Deep Chandra Arya received a tip-off at 9:30 pm on October 29, stating that a rape accused was fleeing Telangana via train. Acting promptly, Arya ordered all express trains from the southern route passing through Gondia to be checked thoroughly.
Inspector N.P. Pandey, in charge of RPF Post Gondia, led the team that tracked the accused’s movements through CCTV footage from Amgaon and Gondia stations. Around 2:30 pm on October 30, the accused was apprehended near the main gate of Gondia Station in a joint operation with Telangana Police.
The accused, identified as Rahul Kumar (26) of Khagaria, Bihar, was wanted under Crime No. 284/2025 registered at Manchareddy Police Station, Kamareddy, for sexually assaulting a woman and absconding thereafter.
After his arrest, RPF assisted Telangana Police with medical and remand procedures. The Kamareddy SP appreciated the swift action by RPF Nagpur Division.
Officials reaffirmed RPF’s commitment to rail passenger safety and urged citizens to report any suspicious persons or activities to the nearest RPF or GRP post, or on the Rail Madad Helpline – 139.
