The State Election Commission on Tuesday has announced elections to 246 Nagar Parishads and 43 Nagar Panchayats in Maharashtra. The polling will be held on December 2, while the counting will begin on December 3. With the announcement of the local body elections, the Code of Conduct has come into force.
The EC said that adequate care is being taken to prevent double polling by voters. At the same time a special mobile app has been developed to help the voters to get information about their polling booth and registration number in the voters list.
Electronic Voting Machines will be used for the polling. The polling centres will have all the facilities and pink polling booths or centres may be allowed for women voters, if required.
The nomination papers filing will begin on November 10 and will end on November 17. Scrutiny of application forms will be carried out on November 18, and the last date for withdrawal of nominations will be November 21. In case of any appeal the last date for withdrawal will be November 25.
Mobile phones will not be allowed inside the polling booths.
