Nagpur: The winter semester examinations of Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU) have been postponed once again after the university’s online examination portal remained non-operational for several days, halting the process of form submissions. The technical breakdown has triggered widespread concern and frustration among students, as the university has yet to issue an official notification about the revised examination schedule.
Last year, the exams for repeat students of semesters 2, 4, 6, and 8 began on October 15, but this year’s process has been severely delayed. The disruption comes after RTMNU shifted its online examination operations from Pro-Mark—which had successfully managed the system in previous years—to a Hyderabad-based company.
Technical Glitch Halts Examination Process
The sudden change of service provider, reportedly made without adequate testing or preparation, has resulted in a complete collapse of the examination system. The new company’s online portal is still not functional, leaving over three lakh students unable to fill out their examination forms.
Colleges have also been unable to proceed with the submission process, while the university’s examination department remains inactive. Officials have so far declined to comment on the situation, adding to the uncertainty.
Administrative Delays Add to the Crisis
The ongoing absence of the Vice-Chancellor and other senior administrators has compounded the issue, leaving students and colleges without clear guidance. The delay is particularly concerning as colleges are scheduled to reopen on November 10 following the Diwali break, yet no clarity has been provided on when exams will actually begin.
Students Demand Immediate Action
Students have urged the university administration to restore the online system at the earliest and announce a definite exam timetable. The continued silence from RTMNU has led to growing anxiety across affiliated colleges, with many questioning the university’s preparedness and accountability.
