The New Nagpur Project has entered a decisive implementation phase with the Nagpur Metropolitan Region Development Authority (NMRDA) initiating joint measurement record (JMR) and coordinated land-survey operations in Godhani (Rithi) and Ladgaon (Rithi) villages of Hingna taluka. This on-ground activity marks the first major physical step toward shaping the planned residential, commercial and mixed-use zones envisioned under the city’s expansion blueprint.
Survey teams—comprising revenue officials, NMRDA engineers and landowners—have begun verifying plot boundaries, reconciling land records and carrying out precise measurements. Conducted in the presence of villagers, the JMR aims to remove discrepancies, improve transparency and minimise future disputes, which often hinder large-scale land-acquisition programmes.
Officials said farmers holding nearly 1,480 acres across the two villages have already submitted consent letters, with the remaining landowners also expressing willingness to cooperate. A total of 1,710.11 acres has been earmarked for this phase of development. The measurement work is expected to conclude within a week, depending on field conditions, after which NMRDA will proceed with formal acquisition and layout planning.
The survey process also enables landholders to directly observe and participate in documentation, fostering trust between the administration and the community. The state government has already approved a ₹3,000-crore loan guarantee to NMRDA for land acquisition for the proposed International Business and Finance Centre (IBFC), a flagship economic hub under the New Nagpur vision.
Sachin Dhole, Joint Commissioner, NMRDA, said: “The JMR exercise is not just a technical formality; it is our assurance of transparency and accountability. Guided by the policy direction of the state’s political leadership, we are taking every step to protect landowners’ interests while moving the New Nagpur project toward timely execution.”
