With the Women’s Premier League (WPL) auction set to take place in New Delhi on Thursday, Vidarbha’s top performers from the Senior Women’s T20 Trophy are gearing up for an opportunity to secure lucrative contracts. Eight players from Vidarbha have made it to the auction list and are hopeful of attracting strong bids based on their recent form.
A total of 277 players — including 194 Indians and 83 overseas cricketers — will go under the hammer for 73 available slots across five franchises. Vidarbha captain Disha Kasat, Bharti Fulmali, Mona Meshram, Kanchan Nagwani, Komal Zanzad, Arya Gohane, Gargi Wankar and Latika Inamdar are among those shortlisted.
Vidarbha enjoyed a solid run in the Senior Women’s T20 Trophy, advancing to the Super League stage before missing a finals berth due to two washed-out matches.
Bharti Fulmali, the only Vidarbha player to feature in WPL 2023, is expected to draw attention once again. Known for her hard-hitting ability, she registered an impressive strike rate of 157.14 this season, smashing 12 sixes and earning two Player of the Match awards. She is associated with Gujarat Giants and is expected to fetch more than her base price of ₹30 lakh.
Skipper Disha Kasat, who was part of Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s title-winning squad in 2023, is also in strong contention. Currently in excellent form, she is likely to attract interest from multiple teams and may secure a contract above her base price of ₹10 lakh.
Former India batter Mona Meshram, with a base price of ₹30 lakh, has been in good touch with the bat and brings valuable experience to the table.
Left-arm pacer Komal Zanzad, who represented RCB in WPL 2023, has shown consistent form with the ball this season and enters the auction with a base price of ₹10 lakh.
Meanwhile, Kanchan Nagwani, Arya Gohane, Gargi Wankar and Latika Inamdar have all performed well in domestic competitions and are optimistic about being picked by at least one of the franchises.
