Tensions flared during the Beedgaon–Tarodi Nagar Panchayat elections when Congress leader Avantika Lekurwale staged a sit-in protest outside the ZP Primary School polling booth at Nageshwarnagar, alleging large-scale bogus voting. Lekurwale claimed that several individuals from Wadi had cast votes at the centre, despite none of them being recognised by local residents. She accused BJP functionaries of bringing in fake voters with the support of the administration and police.
As Lekurwale and Congress workers raised slogans for an extended period, the Returning Officer arrived at the polling station to assess the situation. However, he too faced loud protests from Congress supporters. The commotion reportedly halted voting for some time. Eventually, officials recorded Lekurwale’s formal objections.
Separate Clash Over Campaigning Near Booth
A second incident of tension erupted at the Jijamata Nagar ZP School polling station. Around 12:30 pm, BJP workers accused Congress supporters of campaigning for their candidate within the prohibited area of the booth. Heated arguments broke out between workers of both parties.
Police intervened quickly, dispersing all workers from the premises to restore order. Later, BJP candidate Veeru Jamgade and Congress leader Avantika Lekurwale themselves visited the booth and reviewed the situation. The dispute was settled after discussions, with both sides stating that it had stemmed from a misunderstanding.
