A major lapse in election management surfaced at the Pitessur polling station under Godhani Nagar Panchayat on Tuesday, when officials failed to keep the supplementary voter list inside the booth. As a result, several voters—whose names were included only in the supplementary list—were denied their right to vote and were asked to return.
The supplementary list, containing around 150 names, was inexplicably available only with an ASHA worker outside the centre, while the booth officials had no copy. Confused and frustrated voters approached local Congress workers with complaints.
Upon receiving the information, Congress district women’s president Kunda Raut reached the polling station along with party workers. They confronted the presiding officer, questioning how a polling centre could function without the mandatory supplementary list. Workers also accused the official of acting under political influence and demanded his immediate suspension.
The confrontation led to tense scenes at the booth. Eventually, the official arranged for the supplementary list to be brought to the centre. He assured that every voter listed in the additional roll would be allowed to vote without obstruction. Only after this assurance did the situation return to normal.
