The Ramtek Nagar Parishad election witnessed peaceful and orderly polling on Sunday, with no untoward incidents reported from any part of the town. Only a brief, friendly exchange of arguments between BJP and Shiv Sena workers was noted at Shastri Chowk, but the situation remained under control.
Voting was conducted across 28 polling stations by 40 teams. Polling began at 7:30 am, but several booths saw very thin turnout in the early hours. The morning chill and household chores kept many women voters indoors initially. Between 7:30 am and 9:30 am, only 5.04% votes were cast, which increased to 14.47% by 11:30 am.
By afternoon, polling picked up significantly, with heavy queues forming at several booths. A notable rise was seen in women voters arriving in large numbers. Between 11:30 am and 1:30 pm, turnout reached 25.20%, and by 3:30 pm it climbed to 41.76%. Though polling was scheduled to end at 5:30 pm, long queues at several centres meant voting continued beyond the deadline. Minor discrepancies in voter lists were reported at a few locations.
Election Returning Officer and Tehsildar Ramesh Kolpe said polling was incident-free. All booths were equipped with police security and CCTV cameras. NSS volunteers assisted senior citizens and persons with disabilities, while Ramtek also featured dedicated Adarsh and Pink polling booths.
Out of 20,508 registered voters, a total of 13,404 exercised their franchise, including 6,727 women and 6,677 men. Polling centres across the town saw steady crowds through the day, with special arrangements benefiting disabled and elderly voters.
