Municipal Commissioner Dr. Abhijeet Chaudhary has directed officials to complete the Integrated Solid Waste Processing Project at Bhandewadi within the stipulated timeframe. Dr. Chaudhary inspected the project site on Sunday and reviewed the ongoing work.
He stressed the need to expedite the scientific disposal of the 9-acre legacy waste mound at Bhandewadi, instructing officials to prepare a clear action plan and accelerate work accordingly. Additional Commissioner Vasumana Pant, Superintendent Engineer Dr. Shweta Banerjee, Executive Engineer Rajesh Dufare, Project Consultant Rajendra Jagtap, Consultant Vrinda Thakur, Assistant Commissioner Vikas Raibole, and SusBDe Business Head Vijay Chiplunkar were present during the visit.
The upcoming processing facility, being developed on 30 acres, will handle 1,000 metric tonnes of waste per day. It will also treat construction and demolition debris and include a dedicated animal cremation facility.
Work on filling water in the fermentation tank began on Sunday, initiated by Vasumana Pant and Vrinda Thakur. Chiplunkar informed that all essential mechanical and electrical installations have been completed. The plant will generate biogas, organic manure, and RDF, with the rights for marketing these by-products awarded to M/s SusBDe.
