As part of the Legislature Building expansion, a new structure is proposed to be constructed within the Vidhan Bhavan complex. The project is expected to take at least two years, and work is scheduled to begin immediately after the conclusion of this year’s Winter Session. This triggered speculation that the next session might not be held in Nagpur due to the large-scale construction activity.
However, when questioned on the issue, Legislative Council Chairman Prof. Ram Shinde and Deputy Chairperson Dr. Neelam Gorhe categorically dismissed such speculation and assured that the session will continue to be held in Nagpur.
Prof. Shinde stated that although there is a proposal for constructing a new building within the complex, no final decision has been taken on the commencement date. “There is absolutely no question of the Winter Session not being held in Nagpur,” he clarified.
Deputy Chairperson Dr. Gorhe echoed the same position, affirming that even if construction work begins, the Winter Session will definitely take place in Nagpur.
Their statements have effectively put an end to rumours and reaffirmed the state’s commitment to continuing the long-standing tradition of holding the Winter Session in the city.
