Khapa police have registered an FIR against 11 persons, including a doctor, in connection with the suspicious death of a 33-year-old man during a bachelor party at an NJ Farmhouse in Patansawangi, raising serious questions over alleged negligence and insensitivity by those present.
The case relates to the death of Aditya Mohite (33), a steel businessman and resident of Manish Nagar. Acting on a complaint lodged by his brother, advocate Parikshit Mohite, police have booked all 11 accused for causing death due to negligence. Those named in the FIR include party organiser Joel alias Juwel Singh, Dr Pankaj Nikas, Abhay Dhabarde, Ravi Phukte, Parag Dhande, Prajwal Sahare, Roshan Randive, Akash Bagul, Hutson Misal, Richard Khapekar and Niranjan Chitapalliwar.
According to the complaint, Aditya had attended the bachelor party organised ahead of Joel’s wedding. Family members stated that although he was not particularly inclined towards alcohol or parties, he stayed back at the insistence of his friends.
The following morning, around 10 am, the family was informed that Aditya was not waking up. He was rushed to a private hospital on Koradi Road, where doctors declared him brought dead. Suspicion was raised after the family received contradictory versions of events from those present at the farmhouse, prompting a police probe.
During the investigation, police examined CCTV footage from the farmhouse, which reportedly revealed disturbing details. The footage shows Aditya’s health deteriorating late at night while he was near the swimming pool, after which he collapsed unconscious. For nearly 15 minutes, no one was seen coming forward to help him.
Investigators further noted that despite the presence of a doctor and other educated individuals in the group, no immediate medical assistance was provided. Instead, Aditya was allegedly dragged into a room and left there, rather than being promptly taken to a hospital. Police are continuing further investigation into the matter.
