Skill Development Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha to Visit the Science Exhibition
The Vidarbha Science Festival and Science Exhibition will be organising jointly by Dharampeth M. P. Dev Memorial Science College, Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University, and Vigyan Bharati – Vidarbha Region Committee on January 9 and 10, 2026. The festival will be held at the premises of Dharampeth M. P. Dev Memorial Science College near Ambazari Lake from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Entry will be free for all.
To encourage enthusiasm among young students and promote their scientific creativity, State Skill Development Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha will visit the science exhibition. The science festival has been regularly organized by Vigyan Bharati since 2019 with the primary objective of fostering scientific curiosity, innovative thinking, and a research-oriented mindset among students. Initially, the festival was held only in Nagpur. However, after observing participation from a large number of students across various districts of Vidarbha, a decision was taken in 2024 to organize the festival in every district of the region. Following the district-level competitions, the final round is conducted in Nagpur for the winners.
This year, district-level rounds of the science festival were conducted in all 11 districts of Vidarbha starting from December 13. The competitions were open to students from Classes 8 to 11. The district-level events concluded on January 3, 2026. Competitions were organized under three main themes—Climate Change, One Health, and Defence—and included rangoli, poster-making, science models, and science skit presentations.
A noteworthy highlight of this initiative was the presentation of highly meaningful and impactful science skits from each district. In total, around 100 skits were prepared, with participation from nearly 3,000 students. Students from talukas in the remote Gadchiroli district also participated enthusiastically. Winners and runners-up at the district level were announced and awarded prizes.
The district-level winners will participate in the final round to be held in Nagpur on January 9 and 10 at Dharampeth M. P. Dev Memorial Science College. The final round will include all categories—models, rangoli, posters, and skits. Additionally, around 40 science projects by B.Sc. and M.Sc. students from Nagpur district will be displayed at the exhibition.
Office bearers of Vigyan Bharati and Dharampeth Science College have appealed to students, parents, and citizens to attend the science festival and exhibition in large numbers, take advantage of this initiative, and encourage the participating students.
