Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University will hold its 113th Convocation Ceremony on January 9 at the auditorium of the National Fire Service College, Rajnagar, at 3 pm.
At the ceremony, 97-year-old Vinayak Pande will be awarded a Doctor of Literature (DLitt) degree in Economics, while Deepak Wankhede will receive a DLitt degree in Geography. Vice-Chancellor Dr Manali Kshirsagar shared these details during a press conference at the university campus on Wednesday.
Several students will be honoured with gold medals and prizes for academic excellence. Kratika Shankar Dhote of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar College will receive five gold medals and two prizes for securing the highest aggregate marks in the five-year BA LLB course. Suchetan Prakash Gabhane of Dhananjayrao Gadgil Sahkari Prabandhan Sansthan, Nagpur, topped the MBA examination and will be awarded six gold medals.
Archana Kisan Lale from the Department of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Thought secured the top position in MA Buddhist Studies and will receive six gold medals. Tathagat Thakur of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar College, Deekshabhoomi, topped the three-year LLB course and will be awarded five gold medals. Nivedita Rajendra Fusate of Yashwant College, Wardha, topped MA Marathi and will receive four gold medals and one prize. Prachi Wamanrao Thakre from the Department of Mass Communication secured the highest marks in Bachelor of Journalism and will receive three gold medals and two prizes.
A total of 61,871 students will be awarded degrees and diplomas at the convocation, including 279 candidates who will receive PhD degrees.
Dr Kshirsagar said the university has completed 102 years since its establishment and has made significant progress in academic research and social initiatives. She added that the university continues to play a vital role in imparting education and conducting examinations through its affiliated colleges and postgraduate departments.
The convocation will be presided over by the Vice-Chancellor, with Anant Pandhare, Chairman of AIIMS, attending as the chief guest. Registrar Rajiv Hiwse, Director of the Board of Examinations and Evaluation Manish Zhodpe, Finance and Accounts Officer Harish Paliwal, Deputy Registrar (Examination) Dr Navin Mungle, and other officials were present at the press conference.
