Discontent is brewing in several neighbourhoods after no major political party fielded a candidate from the local area, triggering resentment over the absence of local representation. A similar situation has surfaced in Hanuman Nagar, where frustrated residents have now taken an unusual route—actively campaigning for NOTA (None of the Above).
Angered by what they see as neglect of local identity, citizens in Hanuman Nagar have begun putting up NOTA banners and distributing leaflets door-to-door, urging voters to reject all candidates on the ballot. The campaign is aimed at sending a strong message to political parties that ignoring local leadership comes at a cost.
The NOTA push has unsettled political parties, with leaders and candidates attempting to placate the residents. However, locals remain firm, refusing to be swayed by assurances. Instead, they are moving through streets and households, explaining that no candidate from Hanuman Nagar was given a ticket, and appealing to voters to use NOTA as a show of collective strength and self-respect.
The citizen-led campaign is being spearheaded by Adv. Manmohan Bajpai, Ashok Shingade, Sunil Agrawal, Sunil Pikalmunde, Manni Jasutkar, Chhotu Kale, Adv. Girish Dadilwar, Damodhar Dharmale, Avinash Shingade, Sannu Raut, Sanjay Nagarare, Tejas Dharmale, Swapnil Jawalkar Wadaskar, Nishi Pohankar, and Sandeep Chatpalliwar.
Residents say the movement is not against democracy, but a demand for recognition, representation and respect—using NOTA as their voice.
