Facility to travel to and from the polling booth by sharing location on WhatsApp
Voting for the Nagpur Municipal Corporation General Elections will be held on Thursday, January 15.
To enable voters with disabilities to participate enthusiastically in this process, the Municipal Corporation administration has made special arrangements for them.
Under the guidance of Municipal Commissioner and Election Officer Dr. Abhijit Chaudhari, and under the leadership of Additional Commissioner Mrs. Vasumana Pant, the Municipal Corporation has issued a WhatsApp number 9175414355 for voters with disabilities.
By sharing their location on this number, arrangements will be made to provide transport to and from the polling booth. For this purpose, one vehicle has been arranged in each zone.
In this regard, a Public Interest Litigation was filed in the Nagpur Bench of the Hon’ble High Court, and as per the Hon’ble High Court’s orders, this special facility has been made available for voters with disabilities by the Municipal Corporation.
In connection with the Municipal Corporation elections, a control room has been set up at the Municipal Corporation’s central office to ensure ease, assistance, and all necessary facilities for voters with disabilities at polling centers.
Through this system, on polling day—Thursday, January 15, 2026—from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., one vehicle has been arranged in each zone under the supervision of the Zonal Medical Officer to transport voters with disabilities from their residence to the polling center/polling booth and back.
To enable easy use of this facility, the central-level WhatsApp number 9175414355 has been provided. Voters with disabilities are required to share their location on this WhatsApp number, or they may also call to provide the information.
At the central level, two teams have been appointed in two shifts. Based on the information received by these teams, action will be taken through zonal-level officers. For this purpose, ten teams have been deployed.
