The city witnessed a spiritually vibrant atmosphere as a grand Kalash Shobhayatra led by 108 women drew widespread attention, marking the enthusiastic commencement of the Shrimad Bhagwat Katha Gyan Yajna by Swami Divyanand Giri Maharaj.
The Shobhayatra began with the worship of Lord Hanuman at Shri Hanuman Temple, Ramdaspeth, followed by a beautifully decorated palanquin carrying idols of Lord Krishna and the Shrimad Bhagwat Granth. The palanquin was accompanied by 108 women carrying sacred kalash, proceeding from Central Bazaar Road, Ramdaspeth to Amrut Bhavan. The procession was warmly welcomed along the route with floral showers and ritual worship at various locations.
Organised by The Art of Living, Nagpur, under the guidance of His Holiness Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, the eight-day Shrimad Bhagwat Katha Gyan Yajna is being held at Amrut Bhavan, Sitabuldi, Nagpur, with Swami Divyanand Giri Maharaj as the Katha narrator. The grand spiritual event formally commenced on Saturday with the Kalash Shobhayatra.
Several dignitaries and prominent personalities participated in the procession, including Swami Divyanand Giri Maharaj, event patrons Narayan Dembale, Poonamchand Malu, Rajkumar Chandak, Shyam Agrawal, Sameer Bele, Vijay Menon, and many others.
At the Gyan Yajna venue, traditional rituals including Vyas Pujan, Kalash Sthapana, and Bhagwat Sthapana were performed with Vedic chants by the host families including Dembale–Ramani family, Dayal Mulchandani family, Hanuman Rathi family, Kamwani–Golani family, Nirav Panchmatia family, Nisha Vyas–Atul Bakshi family, Prashant Kulkarni family, Hrishikesh Dongre family, and the Venusiyani family.
Explaining the spiritual significance of the Shrimad Bhagwat, Swami Divyanand Giri Maharaj said that listening to the Bhagwat Katha leads to the attainment of devotion, knowledge, and inner peace, and guides devotees on the path to liberation. He formally commenced the Bhagwat Katha recitation during the evening session, which witnessed a large turnout of devotees.
During the eight-day discourse, Swami Divyanand Giri Maharaj will narrate major episodes from the Shrimad Bhagwat, including Kapil Avatar, Dhruva Charitra, Narasimha Avatar, Vamana Avatar, Shri Krishna Janmotsav, Govardhan Puja, Rukmini Vivah, and Sudama Charitra.
