Watching an international cricket match at Jamtha Stadium is a dream for many cricket lovers, but for differently-abled students, it often remains out of reach due to crowds and logistical challenges. On Wednesday, however, that dream came true for 88 differently-abled students, thanks to a sensitive initiative by the district administration.
On the occasion of the India vs New Zealand match, Nagpur Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officer Vinayak Mahamuni ensured that 88 students from special schools got the rare opportunity to watch the match live from the stadium. The tickets were made available through a charity initiative of the Board of Control for Cricket in India, which this year coordinated directly with the district administration to prevent black marketing.
Following the district collector’s directions, the CEO selected students from 64 special schools through the Social Welfare Department. The Zilla Parishad arranged special buses, staff support, and tricolour-themed T-shirts for the students. As they departed, the CEO personally interacted with them, raising patriotic slogans.
The electrifying atmosphere, national anthem, and on-field action made the experience unforgettable for the students, turning a long-cherished dream into a lifelong memory.
