The Karthikeya Swami Bhaktha Samaj will organise the 57th Thai Pushya Festival at Gujarati Bhawan, Auditorium Hall, Dhantoli, beginning on January 31, 2026.
The festival will commence with a Maha Ganapathy Hawan at Tekari Ganesh Temple at 7.30 am on January 31, followed by the formal inauguration in the presence of the chief guest. A grand Vel procession, accompanied by nadaswaram by G. Magendran and his troupe from Kanchipuram, along with traditional rituals such as Kavadi and Palkudam, has been planned. This will be followed by the installation of the presiding deity at the pooja venue and a Navavarna presentation by Usha Raman and the Ram Nagar, Nagpur troupe. The highlight of the day will be a classical vocal concert by B. Jairam and his party, disciple of Padma Bhushan awardee late P.S. Narayanaswamy, from Chennai, starting at 6.30 pm.
On February 1, the auspicious Thai Pushya day, the morning programme will begin at 7.30 am with Shakti Kudam and Palkudam pooja from Bhagwati Temple, Yashwant Stadium, Dhantoli. This will be followed by Mahanyasa and Ekadasa Rudrabhishekam to Lord Karthikeya Shakti Vel, Samashti Sahasranama Archana, devotional songs by Tanjore K.R. Shridharan, and a lecture on Thiruppugazh by Kannan Thirumalai Iyengar from Chennai. Mahaprasad will be distributed thereafter. The programme will also feature a Thiruppugazh bhajan by Usha Raman and the Ram Nagar, Nagpur troupe.
In the evening from 6 pm onwards, students of Akshaya Iyer will present a dance programme, followed by a grand Krishna Leela performance by young artistes of Soham Kalavishkar, Nagpur.
