Shock and panic prevailed in the Fetri area under Kalmeshwar police station limits on Friday after a young woman was found murdered inside an OYO hotel room. Police suspect that the crime was committed by her boyfriend, who allegedly escaped by jumping from the first floor of the hotel.
According to police officials, the couple had checked into Rahul Service Apartment–1, an OYO-affiliated property, on Thursday. Soon after their arrival, the two reportedly got into a heated argument, forcing hotel staff to step in and intervene.
The altercation reportedly escalated, following which hotel management counseled the couple. The accused is said to have assured staff that there would be no further disturbance to other guests, and the situation was temporarily brought under control.
However, during the night, the accused allegedly killed the woman inside the hotel room and fled the premises by jumping from the first floor.
The crime came to light on Friday morning when repeated checkout calls went unanswered. After knocking several times and receiving no response, hotel staff entered the room and found the woman lying in a pool of blood.
The hotel authorities immediately alerted the Kalmeshwar Police, who rushed to the scene and began an investigation. The victim’s body was sent to the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for post-mortem examination.
Police have launched a manhunt to trace the absconding accused, and further investigation in the case is ongoing.
