Marking the beginning of the new year with the message, Singh expressed gratitude to his fans and described his journey as a playback singer as deeply fulfilling.
“I want to thank you all for giving me so much love all these years as listeners. I am happy to announce that I am not going to be taking any new assignments as a playback vocalist from now on. I am calling it off. It was a wonderful journey,” he wrote.
The post immediately sparked an outpouring of reactions on social media, with many fans struggling to come to terms with the announcement. While some hoped the account had been hacked, others lamented that Bollywood music would feel incomplete without his voice.
Arijit Singh rose to national prominence with Tum Hi Ho from Aashiqui 2, a song that redefined contemporary Hindi film music and established him as one of the most sought-after singers in the industry.
