Winter chill continues to ease across Vidarbha as minimum temperatures have shown a gradual upward trend over the past week, with weather conditions indicating no significant drop in the coming days, according to meteorological officials.
Scientists from the Regional Meteorological Centre said atmospheric conditions remain favourable for night temperatures to stay above normal, largely due to easterly winds passing over the region. While a brief dip in minimum temperatures may be experienced for a day or two, it is expected to be followed by a steady rise. No major fluctuation in minimum temperatures is anticipated over the next five to six days, bringing relatively mild winter conditions for residents.
Data indicates that temperatures across most Vidarbha districts are currently ranging between 15°C and 17.7°C. Akola recorded the highest minimum temperature at 19.7°C, followed by Chandrapur at 18.0°C, while Gondia reported the lowest in the region at 14.0°C. Nagpur city registered a minimum temperature of 16.9°C.
Meteorologists attributed the changing weather pattern to western disturbances affecting northern India, the remnants of which are influencing central regions. Medium to high cloud cover is likely over several parts of Central India, including Vidarbha.
The weatherman has also predicted light rainfall in parts of western Vidarbha, particularly in Akola, Amravati and Buldhana districts, on February 2 and 3. Overall, citizens are unlikely to experience intense cold during this period, with temperatures expected to rise further in the first week of February.
