An unexpected tiger sighting near the Butibori MIDC industrial area created excitement and concern on Wednesday afternoon after travellers spotted the big cat near the Adani Power Plant, about 30 km from Nagpur on Wardha Road.
Forest officials said the animal is likely a dispersing sub-adult tiger moving through a known wildlife corridor and is not showing aggressive behaviour. Butibori Range Forest Officer (RFO) P. M. Wade stated that preliminary observations indicate the tiger is using scrub forest patches in the area despite the nearby industrial establishments. Forest teams are closely monitoring its movement.
The sighting occurred in the corridor connecting Bor Tiger Reserve and the Umred–Karhandla–Paoni Wildlife Sanctuary, an important natural passage for wildlife. Travellers in a car reportedly saw the tiger emerging from bushes onto an unpaved road and recorded the moment on their mobile phones. The video, which soon went viral, shows the tiger calmly assessing the approaching vehicle before walking along a village path to avoid it.
Officials noted that large green areas developed within industrial campuses and institutional premises in the region often serve as temporary resting spots for dispersing tigers. Similar sightings have been reported earlier, including one recorded in the Butibori area in August last year.
