Tehsil Police have cracked down on an illegal gambling operation being run through electronic casino machines in the Timki–Pachpaoli area and registered a case against three accused following a late-night raid on February 6.Police officials said that around 11.20 pm, the patrolling team received specific information about gambling activities being conducted on the upper floor of a building located in a lane adjacent to Vijay Medicos near the railway crossing. Acting swiftly on the tip-off, the police team carried out a raid in the presence of panch witnesses.During the operation, three men were found operating multiple casino games including Front Line, Hello Win, Master, Express Bonus, KZ Wheel, Topper and Mint, with money being wagered on wins and losses. The arrested accused were identified as Gaurav Rajesh Nanhe (23), a resident of Old Mangalwari, Mattipura, Lakadganj; Akshay Devidas Phulzhele (26), a resident of Naik Talao, Pachpaoli; and Rohit Shrikant Bhongade (23), a resident of Samrat Ashok Chowk, Ambedkar Nagar, Wadi.Police seized cash amounting to ₹4,000, 17 casino machines, monitors, a printer, scanner, CPU, keyboard, three mobile phones and other equipment, collectively valued at ₹4.83 lakh. During questioning, the accused revealed that the gambling operation was being run with the assistance of an absconding associate, Ejaz Sheikh (32), a resident of Jaripatka.A case has been registered at Tehsil Police Station under Sections 4 and 5 of the Maharashtra Prevention of Gambling Act. Police have launched a search for the absconding accused and further investigation is underway. The action was taken under the guidance of senior police officers.
