The Nagpur Metropolitan Region Development Authority (NMRDA) has initiated the process to redevelop Deekshabhoomi on the lines of global cities such as Singapore and Dubai by inviting tenders from expert agencies to prepare a world-class design plan.
A tender for preparing the redevelopment design was issued on February 10. Officials said that once the design is finalised, a global tender will be floated to transform Deekshabhoomi into an international-standard landmark.
The move follows directions issued by Social Justice Minister Sanjay Shirsat during a review meeting held on December 13, 2025, with concerned authorities. The meeting was convened after periodic directions from the Nagpur Bench of the Bombay High Court in a public interest litigation filed by Advocate Shailesh Narnavare, seeking comprehensive development of the site.
As per the plan, a Project Management Consultant will be appointed to prepare the development blueprint. Interested agencies have been asked to submit their bids by 2 pm on February 26, with the tenders scheduled to be opened at 2 pm on February 27. The matter is also slated for further hearing before the High Court on February 26, when details of the proposed development will be placed on record.
