Nagpur is set to bolster its urban surveillance grid with a ₹2.14 crore project under the Nagpur Smart & Sustainable City Development Corporation Limited (NSSCDCL), aimed at deploying an integrated surveillance system across selected city locations
Unlike a standalone installation, the new system is designed to be integrated with the existing Smart City surveillance architecture. The scope includes laying optical fibre and power cables, installing HDPE ducts and concrete chambers, erecting camera poles, mounting high-resolution cameras, and setting up network switches, routers, UPS systems and centralised storage servers. Once operational, the cameras will transmit live feeds through fibre connectivity to designated monitoring centres, where footage can be viewed in real time and archived for investigation or analysis.
The selected system integrator will handle the entire lifecycle — from design and supply to installation, testing and commissioning — within a four-month timeframe. The project document makes it clear that the system will be declared operational only after a formal “Go-Live” certification confirming full integration and readiness
.
Functionally, the expansion is expected to plug coverage gaps in existing surveillance zones and enhance situational awareness for law enforcement and civic authorities. By linking the new cameras to the broader command-and-control network, the city aims to strengthen real-time monitoring, improve incident response and reinforce public safety infrastructure under the Smart City framework.
