Ranjan Kala Mandir, currently celebrating its Platinum Jubilee year, will present the humorous two-act Marathi play ‘Washing Machine’ on February 21 at 7 pm at Vanamati Hall, VIP Road, Dharampeth. The performance is being organised to mark the birth centenary of the institution’s founder and noted writer-director Purushottam Darwhekar.
Entry to the programme is free.The play has been directed by Avishkar Ranjan Darwhekar, grandson of Purushottam Darwhekar, and produced by Sanjay Pendse. Renowned chef Vishnu Manohar and president of Bal Rangbhoomi Parishad, Aabhatai Meghe, will attend as guests of honour.
The cast includes Sachin Giri, Aishwarya Shinde, Geeta Sohoni, Asawari Ramekar-Joshi, Chetna Lande and Yash Naik.Addressing a press conference at Tilak Patrakar Bhavan on Tuesday, Avishkar Darwhekar said the play carries a message for the younger generation.
He explained that the storyline symbolically portrays how a person undergoes positive transformation after marriage, much like dirty clothes emerge clean and fresh from a washing machine.
