Four people died in Dharni Tehsil of Amravati district as the pick-up van they were traveling in, fell into a ravine in Shivzila Ghat. The accident occurred on Sunday night when 30 to 40 travellers were returning home near Kanjoli village, after a weekly market in Dedtalai village in adjoining Madhya Pradesh.
The driver lost control over the vehicle and fell down about 50 meters from the road. Four of the passengers named as Sukrai Bisram Dhande (45), Babulal Matu Dahikar (62), Kisan Tanu Dhande, and Sitaram Patel Selukar (52), all resients of Kanjoli, died on the accident site. Many others who received injuries have been rushed to Dharni Sub-District Hospital. Some of the injured were in critical condition and have been shifted to Amravati for further treatment. The bodies of the deceased have been sent for post-mortem.
Dharni Police rushed to the site and initiated the rescue operations and investigation into the case of the accident.
