Sahajveer Singh Maras in Open Group and Chhavi Zade in Girls Group won the Titles of the Nagpur District Under-13 Chess Championship 2026 organized by Chess Association Nagpur in association with G.H.Raisoni Sports and Cultural Foundation, MKH Sancheti Group and Kalpana Prakash Welfare Foundation at G.H.Raisoni College, 6th Floor, Rian Tower, Mangalwari, Nagpur held on 22nd February 2026. The event carried Prizes worth Rs. 10000/- for each group sponsored by G.H.Raisoni Sports and Welfare Foundation.
Sahajveer with 7 ½ points out of 8 was a clear one point ahead of the second best in open group. Chirag Lahoti, Swaraj Mishra and Mrudul Tijare scored 6 ½ points and were adjudged 2nd to 4th in the final list.
In the Girls group, Chhavi with 7 points out of 8 won the championship. Anushka Deshpande with 6 ½ points was runners up. Four players Yashika Musale, Ayanshi Bhengade, Ojaswi Poharkar and Anvi Hirde scored six point however they were placed from 3rd to 6th based on their tie break score.
Top 2 finishers in open group i.e. Sahajveer Singh Maras and Chirag Lahoti and Top 2 finishers in Girls group i.e. Chhavi Zade and Anushka Deshpande were selected to represent Nagpur district in Maharashtra state Under-13 Open and Girls chess Championship 2026 to be held later this year.
Prizes were distributed at the hands of International Arbiter and Ex-MCA Secretary Shri T.N.Bahadure and Senior National Chess Player and Coach Vinay Barhanpure. S.S.Soman, Member of MCA Observer Committee and Chief Arbiter IA Shiva Iyer were present on the dias. SNA Akash Rewatkar read out the names of winners.
Prizes were sponsored by G.H.Raisoni Sports and Cultural Foundation. Top 5 finishers in Open and Girls group were awarded cash prizes alongwith trophies Medals were given to top finishers in Under-11, 9 and 7 age categories.
