Public transport between Nagpur and Amravati is set for a major overhaul as the Maharashtra government plans to introduce a high-tech transport management system to streamline services and improve connectivity across the Vidarbha region. The move aims to modernise the existing bus network and make travel between the two key cities faster, more reliable and technology-driven.
Officials said the plan includes setting up a dedicated metropolitan transport mechanism for the Nagpur–Amravati corridor, which will use digital monitoring, improved route planning and better scheduling of buses. Authorities believe the current system suffers from irregular services, poor coordination and outdated management practices, which often leave commuters struggling with delays and overcrowded buses.
The modernisation push is also expected to benefit students and daily commuters who frequently travel between Nagpur, Amravati and surrounding districts for education, work and business. Officials have noted that during examination periods, the lack of proper transport management often creates serious inconvenience for students travelling to major education hubs like Nagpur.
Once implemented, the high-tech system is expected to bring real-time monitoring of buses, better passenger information systems and more efficient route management, significantly improving the reliability of services. Authorities say the initiative will strengthen Nagpur’s position as the central transport hub of Vidarbha, while also ensuring smoother regional connectivity and a more passenger-friendly public transport network.
