Pachpaoli Police have registered a case against a Nagpur-based consultant for allegedly cheating a woman of ₹4 lakh by promising her a government job in the Income Tax Department and providing a fake appointment letter.
The accused has been identified as Pravin Madan Sakhare (43), a resident of MHADA Colony, Kapil Nagar, Nagpur, who runs an office named DV Consultancy near Khobragade Hospital at Indora Chowk under Pachpaoli police station limits.
According to police, the complainant Moni Haridas Dahat (39), a resident of Naya Nagar, Rani Talav in New Kamptee, came in contact with the accused through a friend.
Police said that between December 26, 2023 and December 4, 2025, Sakhare allegedly gained her trust by claiming he could secure her a government job as a Lower Division Clerk (LDC) in the Public Works Department (PWD) or the Income Tax Department.
The accused allegedly demanded ₹12 lakh for arranging the job. Believing his claims, the woman paid him ₹6.60 lakh through cash and online transactions.
Investigations revealed that Sakhare, along with his associate identified as “Singh Sir” from Delhi, allegedly issued a fake appointment letter showing the complainant’s selection as a Lower Division Clerk in the Income Tax Department in Delhi.
When the complainant later demanded her money back, the accused returned a part of the amount but failed to return ₹4 lakh and did not provide the promised job, thereby cheating her.
Based on the complaint and preliminary inquiry, Sub-Inspector Gajanan Maind of Pachpaoli Police Station registered a case under Sections 316(2), 318(4), 336(3), 341(4) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Further investigation is underway.
Police have appealed to citizens that if anyone else has been cheated by the accused through promises of government jobs, they should approach Pachpaoli Police Station with relevant documents or contact Senior Police Inspector Baburao Raut (7020753909).
