To mark International Women’s Day and celebrate women’s strength and empowerment, the Nagpur Municipal Corporation will organize a ‘Pink Marathon’ on Sunday (March 8). The event will begin at 5:30 AM from Yashwant Stadium in Dhantoli.
The marathon will be inaugurated by noted social worker Amrita Devendra Fadnavis and will be presided over by Nagpur Mayor Nita Thackeray. The event will also be attended by several dignitaries including Maharashtra Revenue and Nagpur District Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule and Minister of State Ashish Jaiswal.
The Pink Marathon is a special initiative dedicated to women, promoting health, confidence, and empowerment. Women participants will receive attractive prizes, and the Sports Department and Social Development Department of the municipal corporation have urged women to participate in large numbers.
Registration for the marathon can be completed online through the municipal corporation’s website. Registered participants can collect their T-shirts and race numbers on March 7 between 4 PM and 7 PM at Yashwant Stadium.
Marathon Categories
The Pink Marathon will be held in three categories:
- 3 km run – for girls below 16 years
- 5 km run – general women’s category
- 2 km Pink Run – special participation run

Yashwant Stadium → Maharashtra Bank Chowk → Jhansi Rani Chowk → Vidyapith Library Chowk → Alankar Talkies Chowk → Kachchipura Chowk → Deekshabhoomi Annabhau Sathe Chowk → Rahate Colony Metro Station Chowk → Gaurakshan Sabha Chowk → Home Guard Office → Dhantoli Udyan → Mehadia Chowk → Yashwant Stadium.
3 km Run (Under 16):
Yashwant Stadium → Maharashtra Bank Chowk → Jhansi Rani Chowk → University Library Chowk → Kalpana Building → Lokmat Chowk → Dhantoli Udyan → Mehadia Chowk → Yashwant Stadium.
2 km Pink Run:
Yashwant Stadium → Maharashtra Bank Chowk → Jhansi Rani Chowk → University Library Chowk → Panchsheel Chowk → Mehadia Chowk → Yashwant Stadium.
Mayor Nita Thackeray has appealed to citizens, especially women, to participate enthusiastically in the Pink Marathon and make the event a success.
