Five women bikers from Nagpur — Dr. Priyanka Rukmani, Ruchika Meghe, Ekta Khete, Maithili Singh and Pallavi Deshmukh — are participating in the “Queens on the Wheels 3.0” biking tour aimed at promoting tourism and highlighting women’s safety in Madhya Pradesh.
The initiative was flagged off by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, who said the tour is not just a bike rally but a powerful campaign showcasing women’s empowerment, courage and the state’s tourism potential. He emphasized that Madhya Pradesh is not only known for its unique culture but is also committed to ensuring women’s safety.
A total of 25 women bikers from across the country are taking part in the 1,400-km journey from March 7 to March 13, covering several major tourist destinations in Madhya Pradesh. The tour will conclude in Bhopal.
The biking expedition is being led by 62-year-old Dr. Neeta Khandekar from Mumbai, who has previously completed a 21,000-km ride in 75 days. The group includes eight riders from Bhopal, five each from Mumbai and Nagpur, and participants from Gwalior, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Pune and Noida.
During the tour, riders will travel through famous tourist sites including Sanchi Stupa, Udayagiri Caves, Chanderi, Khajuraho Temples, Kuno National Park, Gwalior, Mitawali Temple and Orchha.
The Chief Minister noted that the ride highlights the diverse cultural heritage of the state—from the traditions of Nimar and Malwa to the historic legacy of Bundelkhand and Chambal—while also promoting safe travel and tourism.
Participants shared their experiences during the flag-off ceremony. Dr. Neeta Khandekar spoke about pursuing her passion for biking later in life, while a rider from West Bengal said she felt extremely safe traveling across Madhya Pradesh and admired its roads and natural beauty.
The event was attended by several officials, including Tourism Department representatives and senior state government officers.
