:The Maharashtra Government’s Department of Sports and Youth Services will conduct district-level selection trials in Nagpur under its Mission Lakshyavedh initiative to establish a District Sports Talent Development Center. The trials will be organized for the sports disciplines of wrestling, table tennis, and shooting.
The selection process will be conducted by the District Sports Office under the guidance of the Commissioner of Sports and Youth Services. Through this initiative, talented athletes from the district will be identified and provided with specialized training. Selected players will receive coaching and guidance from expert trainers under the Mission Lakshyavedh scheme.
Boys and girls under the age of 21 are eligible to apply for the trials. Applications will be accepted until March 21, 2026. Interested athletes must submit their applications along with the required documents via email to the District Sports Officer’s Office, Nagpur, at [email protected].
The age limit for participation is under 21 years as of December 31, 2025. Applicants must submit documents including a birth certificate, school leaving certificate, sports achievement certificates from the past two years, Aadhaar card, domicile certificate, three passport-size photographs, a school or college bonafide certificate, and a parental consent letter.
Participants must be residents of Maharashtra and should have participated in or won medals at least at the state-level competitions. The selection will be based on evaluation of sports performance over the last two years, sport-specific skills, and physical fitness tests. A valid medical fitness certificate issued by a government-recognized doctor will also be mandatory.
Athletes from various categories in wrestling, table tennis, and shooting can participate in the trials. The schedule and venue for the selection tests will be communicated to registered athletes at a later date.
The District Sports Officer has appealed to athletes across Nagpur district to take advantage of this opportunity.
