The City Traffic Police have imposed a one-year ban on the entry of private travel buses within the Inner Ring Road limits from 8 am to 10 pm daily. The order, issued by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Lohit Matani, will remain in force till March 12, 2027.
As per the directive, buses operating for companies in MIHAN and MIDC, as well as those coming for weddings and private events, must obtain prior permission before entering the restricted area.
Officials said the decision was taken to ease rising traffic congestion. With over 30 lakh population and nearly 25 lakh vehicles on the roads, along with ongoing construction works, traffic pressure has increased significantly. The move also aims to curb air and noise pollution.
Private buses will not be allowed to pick up or drop passengers at key locations such as Central Avenue, Cotton Market Chowk, Variety Chowk, Sakkardara Chowk, and Dighori Chowk.
Police have urged operators and citizens to follow the rules to ensure smoother traffic movement.
